Fit for Girls

Developed in 2008, Fit for Girls is a partnership programme between sportscotland and the Youth Sport Trust, aiming to support the physical education, physical activity and sport (PEPAS) workforce to increase girls’ engagement in PEPAS.

Description

The learning gathered over the last ten years has resulted in the development of a series of Fit for Girls solutions workshops. Local Authorities in Scotland can now access Fit for Girls Solutions workshops and make them bespoke to the needs in their area.

The workshops share solutions and tools across four themes consultation, leadership, profile, and pathways and provide an opportunity for networking across the PEPAS sector in Scotland. Local authorities have an opportunity to tailor the workshop to meet their priorities.

Building Positive Relationships are at the heart of all Fit for Girls solutions and effective consultation is critical to that relationship-building. Partnerships are also central to success and the workshop supports local partners to work together in enabling girls to stay active by journeying along a pathway of PEPAS opportunities.

sportscotland and the Youth Sport Trust are committed to ensuring there are more and higher quality opportunities available for all young people to take part in PEPAS. Local, regional, and national partners are instrumental in turning this vision into action.

The success of Fit for Girls is testament to the engagement of all those partners and the girls who have been and continue to be involved. We would like to thank you for your commitment and contribution over the last ten years and encourage you to continue to inspire, support and transform girls participation in PE, physical activity and sport.
