Youth Leadership Camp

YST FA Girls' Football Youth Leadership Camp
The Girls’ Football Youth Leadership Camp, developed through the partnership between The FA and Youth Sport Trust, brings together girls from across the 100 FA Girls’ Football School Partnerships to attend a three-day residential camp to develop skills in leadership, football delivery and marketing.

The girls are all Football Activators, trained through the Game of Our Own programme, and have started their leadership journey in either a deliverer role, for example aspiring coach or official; or in a marketeer role, for example as a media manager or brand designer.

At the camp the girls will develop their leadership and role skills further through a series of workshops where they will:

  • Build knowledge, insight and ideas to deliver and market football festivals and club session to engage girls not currently participating in football
  • Develop as role models, inspiring and motivating more girls in their school, local primary schools and community to participate, lead and actively volunteer in Football
  • Understand ways to review the provision and opportunities for girls to participate in football, and influence change to provide a greater range of opportunities for girls.

Throughout the three-days the girls are inspired by Lioness Legends, such as Sue Smith and Faye White and spend a day at St George’s Park, The FA’s national centre for football and home of the England Football Teams.

Following the camp, the girls will use their skills as they continue in their Football Activator role at school and lead the planning and organising of a football event the following summer.
