This three-year initiative, co-funded by the European Union, focused on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles through non-competitive monthly challenges in schools and the calculation of healthy kilometres.
The UK was one of seven nations which piloted the programme in 2023/24 before it was rolled out to 27 countries in 2024/25, when a massive total of more than 32 million kilometres was amassed through the challenges.
Led by Spanish organisation, Deporte Para La Educacion Y La Salud, seven other partner organisations across Europe took part in the design and delivery of the programme:
- Youth Sport Trust International
- V4Sport
- ISCA
- EUPEA
- L'ORMA
- BGBeActive
- University of Madrid
The Youth Sport Trust International was responsible for developing the toolkit to support training and implementation in schools.
Schools interested in joining the programme should visit the Moving Schools website.
