Spencer Ellis

26 for 2026 Challenge

Spencer took on an extraordinary mission in 2026: 26 running events totalling 2,026km. But behind the physical challenge lay a deeply personal purpose.

Growing up, Spencer often felt different, excluded, and lacking confidence. It wasn’t until adulthood that he discovered running and sport. This experience transformed his wellbeing, boosted his confidence, and connected him with a community he never had as a young person.

“I believe we need to invest in the future, and we do that by investing in young people,” Spencer says. “Movement and sport gave me something I never had when I was younger. That’s why I’m doing this challenge - so young people across the UK can experience the benefits of sport and play much sooner than I did.”

I’m doing this challenge so young people can experience the benefits of sport and play sooner than I did.

He chose to support the Youth Sport Trust because of its commitment to inclusion, especially for young people who feel 'othered' or overlooked. And with the world facing social division and the UK experiencing economic strain, Spencer saw this challenge as a way to invest in a kinder, more empathetic generation, particularly those in underserved communities who need support the most.

Through his '26 for 2026' challenge, Spencer hoped to help Youth Sport Trust reach young people who deserve the chance to feel confident, included, and empowered. Follow his journey here.
