To inform the annual Youth Sport Trust’s PE and School Sport Report, we commissioned Teacher Tapp to conduct research with over 9,000 teachers to understand their current attitudes and views.
Key research findings:
- 46% report poor behaviour of pupils as the most important issue in their school
- Nearly all teachers recognise that sport and play help children’s physical, mental and social wellbeing
- The most common activities schools do to encourage pupils to be physically active are: offering a wide range of extra-curricular sports or activity clubs, promoting active breaks and lunchtimes and providing a minimum of 2 hours of PE for all pupils per week
- There is low awareness of the amount of physical activity a child should be doing in and out of school
