Three easy ways to transform young lives as you shop this term

The world seems to have changed so much since so many of us went into lockdown on 23 March 2020. Most children and young people got sent home from school, parents became teachers and, crucially, the purse strings tightened.

As a national children’s charity, we believe in the power of sport to transform young lives. We’re passionate about the link between being active and the endless benefits this has on mental health and wellbeing.

That’s why, during lockdown, we provided free daily activities for young people to complete at home, helping them to achieve the UK Chief Medical Officers’ guidance of 60 active minutes per day. We also made our annual awareness week, National School Sport Week, virtual this year – enabling millions of young people to celebrate the power of sport at home with their families, while children of key workers got to take part in their bubbles at school.

Now that children have returned to school, we’ve provided ideas and principles to support PE teachers with their recovery curriculum.

As COVID-19 continues to present mass uncertainty, one thing’s for sure: when we’re spending money, we need it to go as far as possible. There’s a reason purposeful shopping is one of 2020’s key retail trends, and you can easily jump on board this feel-good movement with our three easy ways to transform young lives as you shop this term.

  1. Do good while you shop with Decathlon
The world’s largest sport retailer has partnered with us for a second year running, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The retail giant has even made this year’s partnership even more exciting as we’ll get 4% of all purchases made by schools. So if you’re thinking about where to buy any new PE equipment this academic term, you know where to go!
  2. Check out Youth Sport Enterprises
Did you know that Youth Sport Trust has a webshop? If you haven’t taken a look yet, check out the huge number of resources for all ages, home learning courses and sport equipment on the website. You might even grab a bargain, as we have slashed prices on many of our products.
  3. Make your money go further with AmazonSmile
Ah, Amazon, it was here for us when we were in national lockdown and it keeps on giving as we navigate our way through the maze of returning to normality. Did you know that if you shop through AmazonSmile, at no extra cost to yourself, Amazon will donate a percentage of your purchase to a charity of your choice?

Simply choose Youth Sport Trust as your chosen charity, shop through the https://smile.amazon.co.uk website and you can officially help us transform more young lives as you shop!

We hope you’ve found our three simple ways to make your money go further helpful. Do you have any top tips for shopping with a purpose? We’d love to hear them. Start the conversation on social media @youthsporttrust
