Young People in Malawi Get Active for MOVE Week Africa

MOVE Week is a successful, global campaign, running in Europe since 2012 and in Latin America since 2015, which aims to promote the benefits of being active and participating regularly in sport and physical activity.

This year, the African Union Sports Council (AUSC), International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA) and the International Platform on Sport and Development (sportanddev) invited like-minded organisations to create a pilot campaign and MOVE on the African continent!

Between 21 and 27 September 2026, countries across Africa are participating in MOVE Week. One such organisation is Bhubesi Pride Foundation who are currently working in partnership with Youth Sport Trust International to deliver the Beckwith International Leadership Development programme in Malawi. During MOVE Africa week, Local Trainers conducted training for young people from rural Lilongwe to develop their leadership skills and enable them to deliver sports activities to children.

More information about this activity can be found here, and for additional information on MOVE Week Africa, please click here.

The Beckwith International Leadership Development (BILD) programme has been designed and funded by Youth Sport International and is delivered in Malawi in partnership with Bhubesi Pride Foundation Malawi.
