Programme Background

Children’s charity the Youth Sport Trust is leading a consortium of organisations commissioned by the Department for Education which aims to improve the quality of schools’ physical education, school sport and physical activity provision for pupils with SEND, working with PE leads, teachers, SENDCos, teaching assistants and practitioners involved in delivering inclusive physical activity.

Inclusion 2028 is a programme funded by the Department for Education. Since 2022, we have hosted Inclusion Live week. Last year, over 800 people registered for the live virtual content, which was delivered by expert practitioners and young people with a focus on best practice of the inclusion of young people with SEND in PE, school sport and physical activity. The aim of the week was to develop greater knowledge, competence and confidence to provide meaningful and inclusive opportunities for young people with SEND. You can watch last year's sessions here.

Speaking about Inclusion Live 2026 our Development Manager for Inclusion, Kelly Fellows, said the following - feel free to share this more widely.

"At the Youth Sport Trust, we believe that every child has a right to experience inclusive, accessible and meaningful physical education, school sport and physical activity opportunities.

"To make this a reality, it’s essential that educators and practitioners have the confidence and resources to deliver inclusive activities. Inclusion Live provides an excellent platform for practitioners to access free, high-quality training in inclusive practice and hear from leading experts on the latest developments in inclusive provision.

"I’m really looking forward to another inspiring week of sessions and I hope you will join us for Inclusion Live 2026.”
