Despite the heartache, the Lionesses continue to inspire a generation.

Huge congratulations from everyone at the Youth Sport Trust to the Lionesses for their incredible achievement in reaching the World Cup Final.

Despite the heartache of losing at the final stage, the Lionesses continue to inspire a generation, and encourage more women and girls than ever before to take up football.

Throughout the tournament we have seen the immense power of sport to unite, to inspire and to create hope and raise aspirations. The Lionesses have players who reflect the very best character traits and values and led by the incredible Sarina Wiegman, we have been reminded of the power of teamwork, creating a squad of players united in a common goal.

The Youth Sport Trust works to ensure every child can access the benefits of play. Through their actions on the field, the Lionesses have helped to drive change in participation in sport for young women and girls, alongside the incredible work of the FA behind the scenes in changing attitudes, building opportunities and creating pathways.

The Lionesses collective commitment to the quality and equality of PE & school sport has amplified young people’s voices about the opportunities they want to access, to enable them to be physically active and take part in the sports and activities they are excited and inspired by.

While their achievements at the World Cup will inspire even more girls and women to take up football, their success has equally inspired everyone at the Youth Sport Trust to redouble our efforts to harness the extraordinary power of sport to change young lives today and help them build a brighter tomorrow.
