Runners raise over £20,000 for the Youth Sport Trust

Twelve dedicated Youth Sport Trust supporters took to the sunny streets of London on Sunday and joined thousands of others in the 34th annual Virgin Money London Marathon. Months of training were put into action as our runners braved the 26.2 mile course, many smashing personal bests and taking on the unexpected hot weather.

Our amazing runners exceeded expectations, all finishing before the 5 hour 15 minute mark, with six of them clocking times of less than 4 hours! Not only did they achieve great times, but they also surpassed fundraising aims and collectively have raised over £20,000 so far for the Youth Sport Trust, with donations still coming in.

All runners have a close connection to sport, and see the huge potential and benefit it brings to the lives of young people.

Ben Elston, PE teacher and freelance personal trainer, says:

"I have always been passionate about sport, as a result of the positive experiences I received through sport as a child. I work as a PE teacher and I am driven in passing on the positive experiences I received through sport to the children of today"

We would also like to thank Anthony Judge, a Development Manager at the Youth Sport Trust, for taking on the challenge and representing the charity so well.

Lindsay Nehorai, Fundraising Assistant, Youth Sport Trust, said:

"It has been such a pleasure having the chance to support our runners and hear why they have been so inspired to take part and raise money for us. I am extremely proud of them all and cannot thank them enough for the huge amount they have raised so far."
