Inclusive Sports Programme

Building upon the success of the Learning & Discovery festivals from last year, schools involved in the Inclusive Sports Programme will deliver a series of inclusive programmes and festivals that are inspired by the Winter Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

The impact of this project will provide young people with and without SEND the opportunity to come together and participate in Paralympics and Commonwealth themed activities. This will support development of acceptance and friendships between young people with and without SEND and provide schools with high quality resources to continue to use back in schools to further increase participation. Inclusive Sports Programme is part of the DfE funded Inclusion 2024 programme.

Schools are ensuring young people are integral to designing the series of programmes and festivals and the Youth Voice Toolkit is being used to support practitioners in a range of ways to engage student voice in their schools, ensuring a representative of a diverse community of pupils.  Youth Voice Toolkit can be found here.

Below you will find a suite of videos and activity cards for adapted sports inspired by the Winter Paralympic Games, hosted in Beijing in March 2022. All sports and activities have been designed so they can easily be delivered in a school setting. You will also find additional Commonwealth Games inspired activities inspired by some of the Para Sports at the Commonwealth Games, hosted in Birmingham in July/August 2022.
