YST Conference 2022: Inspiring Changemakers
Awards Dinner - Wednesday 02 March
Conference - Thursday 03 March
Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry
The Youth Sport Trust Conference 2022 will be all about Inspiring Changemakers. This is the networking opportunity of the year for anyone working in school sport, PE and physical activity, and we want you to be part of it.
Keynote speakers and The Big Debate
We are delighted to announce that the Children’s Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza, will be among our keynote speakers for this year. Government Minister for Children and Families, Will Quince MP, will also be making a virtual address.
Dame Rachel is a nationally recognised educator and advocate for improving the rights of disadvantaged children. One year into her role as Children’s Commissioner for England, she will talk about the Commission’s Big Ask – one of the biggest ever consultations of young people’s voices – and the case for a new settlement for children which includes a right to play and be active.
We will also be joined virtually by the Minister for Children and Families, Will Quince MP who will update on government’s new School Sport and Activity Action Plan, and the important role it sees for sport in education.
The centre of this year's conference is our Big Debate. Join us for a Question Time style debate with a live audience and a star-studded panel to discuss the big questions impacting our mission. Places are limited.
Over the past two years, evidence of growing inequalities has been met with a real determination to be there for the young people who need us the most, using the power of sport and play to improve both physical and mental wellbeing. The crucial roles that PE, physical activity and sport play in the wellbeing of everyone in a school have never been more essential.
This year’s conference programme includes inspiring speakers from across the worlds of youth engagement, sport, leadership and education. We have a wide a range of workshops and expert panels offering practical solutions and thought leading innovation.
Workshops will explore the role of PE and sport in addressing growing inequalities, how to transform curriculums to respond to the impact of COVID-19 and how to get to the heart of a Well School.
New for 2022, we are working with Nexus Education to offer NeXworking, a fast-paced 60-minute networking session providing delegates with dedicated time with exhibitors, designed to maximise your networking time at the YST Conference.
We also invite you all to attend our star-studded awards dinner taking place on the eve of Conference (02 March). The evening will be an ideal opportunity both to mark 10 years since the London 2012 Olympics which gave the entire nation such joy and optimism, and to recognise and thank all the educators who have given so much to all our young people throughout the pandemic. Please join us for what promises to be an inspirational evening.
The awards will recognise the work of schools who have demonstrated the central role of PE, sport, physical activity and wellbeing in supporting young people’s return to school following the pandemic.
Now is the time to make real and lasting change happen for the benefit of your school and wider community. Our conference will provide you with the tools, confidence and inspiration to make that happen.
