The Youth Sport Trust Awards 2022 will recognise the work of schools who have demonstrated the central role of PE, sport, physical activity and wellbeing in supporting young people’s return to school following the pandemic.

Awards will be presented at the YST Awards Dinner 2022 on 2 March at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry on the eve of the YST Conference 2022.

The award categories are:

  1. YST Outstanding Early Years Physical Literacy Practice

Awarded to a setting that has placed physical literacy at the heart of their curriculum, ensuring that learners’ physical, social and emotional health is central.  

  1. YST Outstanding Multi-Academy Trust Practice

Awarded to a Multi-Academy Trust that has demonstrated excellent collaboration across the MAT to place PE, sport, physical activity and wellbeing at the heart of their pupils’ return to school and recovery, ensuring that learners’ physical, social and emotional health is central. 

  1. YST Outstanding Primary Practice

Awarded to a primary school that has placed PE, sport, physical activity and wellbeing at the heart of their pupils’ return to school and recovery, ensuring that learners’ physical, social and emotional health is central.

  1. YST Outstanding Secondary Practice

Awarded to a secondary school that has placed PE, sport, physical activity and wellbeing at the heart of their pupils’ return to school and recovery, ensuring that learners’ physical, social and emotional health is central.

  1. YST Outstanding Inclusive Practice

Awarded to a special, PRU or AP school that has placed PE, sport, physical activity and wellbeing at the heart of their pupils’ return to school and recovery, ensuring that learners’ physical, social and emotional health is central. 

  1. YST Outstanding Contribution to the Community

Awarded to an early years setting, primary, secondary or special school which has harnessed the power of physical activity, PE and sport to develop and deliver targeted interventions which bring people and communities together, demonstrating a positive impact on young people’s health and wellbeing.

  1. Campbell CARE Award - Network Leader / Local Influencer Award

Awarded to a PE or school sport network leader who in their area has influenced change that has positively impacted schools and young people through PE and sport.

  1. Beckwith CARE Award - Young Changemaker

Awarded to a young person who has demonstrated the skills and confidence to undertake social action or lead change in their school or community. Empowered through sport, this young person will have made a difference by being a local activist, tackling the issues of their generation and championing the power of sport to change lives. 

The YST Youth Board will select the winner from the category winners at the Girls Active & Young Changemaker Awards

Nomination process

  • Closing date for nominations – 21 January
  • Judging panel to meet and all decisions finalised – by 28 January
  • Shortlisted nominees informed – w/c 31 January

Important information to know when nominating

  • Awards will be presented at the YST 2022 Awards Dinner on 2 March at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry, on the eve of the YST 2022 Conference
  • Awards Dinner Tickets are available to purchase here (Standard £70.00 ex. VAT and YST Networks £60.00 ex. VAT)
  • Throughout the dinner, winners’ details will be shared on Youth Sport Trust social media channels and post event they will be announced on the Youth Sport Trust website
  • The Youth Sport Trust reserves the right to publicise the results and use winning nominations in press releases. Winners may be asked to cooperate with any requests from the media.
