YST Young Changemaker Awards 2022

The awards will celebrate individuals and groups of young people who, working alongside Youth Sport Trust and Youth Sport Trust International over the past year, have made a real and impactful change to their life and the lives of others. 

The shortlisted young people and winners will be recognised for their activity in the fields of Physical Education, physical activity, play and school sport in the following award categories:

  • YST Character & Leadership Award - This award will recognise a young person or group, nominated by a member of school staff/project lead, for their development and display of character or leadership skills in PE, school sport, play or physical activity.

  • YST Inclusion Award - This award will recognise a young person or group, nominated by a member of school staff/project lead, for either overcoming personal barriers and engaging as a participant/leader or leading and promoting inclusive practice and encouraging others to engage in PE, school sport, play or physical activity.

  • YST Physical & Mental Health Award - This award will recognise a young person or group, nominated by a member of school staff/project lead, for either increased involvement in physical activity, PE or sport which positively contributes to their wellbeing or for leadership in taking responsibility/ encouraging others to look after their own physical and mental health.

  • YST Young Activist - This award will recognise a young person, nominated by a member of school staff/project lead, for their role in inspiring an individual or group to access meaningful PE, sport and physical activity.

  • YST International Development Award - This award will celebrate an international Young Changemaker, recognised by Youth Sport Trust International. This award is a recognition award so not open for nominations.

Every school submitting a nomination will be invited to our virtual star-studded awards ceremony, taking place on 23 November from 15:30 – 17:30.

Please take the time to nominate and show your young people how much you value the determination, resilience and creativity they have demonstrated, particularly at such a difficult time for them.

Data Protection

As part of the nomination process for the YST Young Changemaker Awards 2022, we will need to collect some personal data, as outlined below:

  • Nominator contact details, to enable us to get in touch regarding the nomination and awards ceremony.
  • Details of the nominee, including name, school, year group and gender for shortlisting purposes.

The Youth Sport Trust (YST) will be the data controller of the personal information provided through this survey. Our External Privacy Notice, includes full details of how we will look after this data, including information regarding your individual rights and contact details. By submitting any personal data to us you are agreeing to the use of this information as set out above and in our Privacy Notice.

For clarification, any nominations that are not shortlisted will be permanently deleted or anonymised within three months of submission.

Prior to the awards ceremony, all shortlisted nominees and award winners will be sent a parental consent form, setting out details of what and how any information about them may be used by YST at the awards ceremony and in subsequent promotional activity.
