Primary School Teacher:
“It definitely made me focus on the idea of physical literacy and I have changed the way I deliver my PE lessons in school as a result of that already."
Working with the National Governing Bodies of Sport, and in partnership with Sport England and the County Sport Partnership Network, the Youth Sport Trust has developed Skills2Play for KS1 and Skills2Play Sport for KS2. These are extra-curricular resource for primary schools. At KS1 they have been designed to build and develops childrens' movement foundation through activities that focus on fundamental movements. Then advancing to KS2 the resources focus on the development of movement and skills that are then applied to suitable small sided games that support development into the playing of all games.
The Skills2Play approach concentrates on the development of locomotion, object control and stability which builds upon the Start to Move programme, as well as helping children develop their wider skills, values and abilities in the creative, cognitive, social, physical and personal.
