Mainstream Secondary inclusive CPD
Description
The Mainstream Secondary Inclusive CPD Innovation Project is funded by the Department of Education Inclusion 2024 grant to test and support the development of an appropriate inclusive CPD offer for mainstream secondary schools. This innovation project was created based on insight and feedback gathered from the Lead Inclusion School network regarding the ongoing challenges of engaging and supporting the secondary school sector with CPD and inclusive good practice.
Five schools were selected for this project, who were involved in developing and testing a range of inclusive training, advice and guidance that is fit for purpose and ultimately improves the networks engagement with mainstream secondary schools. As part of year two of the project the schools doing this innovation project will capture key learnings through case studies and support these being cascaded through the wider network.
The five lead schools doing this project worked with a minimum of one mainstream secondary school from within their county supporting SLT and their workforce to initially understand their settings, current delivery, and young people. Training approaches were designed and tested ensuring they were bespoke for the settings and relatable, relevant and realistic for their learners. Your school has the opportunity to be part of a wider community of practice with the other schools involved in this project.
The project offered an opportunity to provide training, to up-skill teachers, support assistants, wider school workforce and SLT to engage young people in mainstream Secondary Schools through adapting their lesson plans and delivery to explicitly focus on key life skill development.
