Game of Our Own – supported by Barclays

This programme supports secondary school teachers in exploring how to engage girls in curriculum PE through an innovative life skills approach.

Description

The relationship with Barclays has enabled us to use the array of cross-curricular resources on offer through Barclays LifeSkills programme, supporting schools to not only deliver through curriculum PE, but develop the transferable skills of their young people in English, PSHE and in preparation for the world of work.

The curriculum element of the programme is complimented with leadership training. Game of Our Own Leadership programme supported by Barclays provides training to girls in Key Stage 3 to design, create and deliver football opportunities for their peers. Girls football activators can follow one of two leadership pathways: marketing or delivery.

Speaking about the partnership, Barclays said: Barclays purpose iscreating opportunities to rise whether that's customers, clients, colleagues or society. This influenced our partnership from the very beginning with Barclays committed to not only sponsor the Barclays FA Women's Super League, but as importantly supporting programmes to give girls access to football and all its benefits. This led to Barclays and the FA partnering on the Girls Football School Partnerships and now Game of Our Own.
