Engagement Model in PE
Description
With the Engagement Profile now statutory for schools in England, this project will explore what this profile looks like in the context of PE, and support schools with the assessment tool that helps meet their duties in supporting pupils who are working below the level of the national curriculum and who are not engaged in subject-specific study. The model has 5 areas designed to develop opportunities for pupils to consolidate and maintain their knowledge, skills and concepts, as well as to help identify and celebrate pupil progress in both a linear and lateral way. These areas are exploration, realisation, anticipation, persistence and initiation.
The impact of this project will see young people with SEND offered high-quality opportunities that meet their unique needs. It will support schools with an inquiry-based approach to physical education and provision, that allows all stakeholders to engage fully in a child or young person’s learning and development and link to individual learning goals.
