The 'Power Of' series includes three sessions:
Power of PE: The future of Physical Education
Are you currently maximising the benefits of PE in your school to:
- Improve academic performance?
- Enhance physical and emotional health and wellbeing?
- Improve attendance?
- Improve behaviour and social relationships?
- Develop character and employability skills?
The Power of PE: The future of physical education is a half-day or twilight CPD session that will provide you with the knowledge and tools to strategically position core PE against a backdrop of EBacc, Progress 8 and the new Ofsted framework.
If you have attended a World Leading: Vision for PE (Module 1) course you will have covered much of the content in this workshop and hence we advise not doing both!
Power of engaging girls in PE
Are you finding it difficult to engage all girls in PE, school sport or physical activity? You would not be alone if you answered ‘yes’, many statistics tell us this is a universal issue.
Only 8% of girls aged 13-15 years meet the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines of 60 minutes per day of physical activity - Health Survey for England, 2012
The Power of engaging girls in PE is a half-day or twilight CPD session that has been designed specifically to introduce teachers to key insight and proven principles for engaging all girls in physical activity. The content, derived from the Youth Sport Trust award winning Girls Active programme, will provide you with the knowledge and tools to consider your school’s provision and support for your girls. You will also receive a self-review tool to enable you to measure the positive change you are able to make following the training.
Girls Active is funded by Sport England and is in partnership with This Girl Can and Women in Sport.
Power of an active school
Are your pupils physically and emotionally well? Is this having an impact on their attainment and achievement? The Power of an active school is a half-day or twilight CPD session that has been designed specifically to summarise the evidence that active learners = healthy learners = better learners. It will provide you with the knowledge and tools to audit your current practice and provide solutions to reduce
sedentary behaviour and embed physical activity into the culture and structure of the school day.
