Our 2016/17 membership offer

by Jenny Rouse, Head of Membership

Our 2016/17 membership offerThose schools with Youth Sport Trust membership haven’t just provided pupils with great PE and sport, they’ve also led the way in academic achievement and leadership. The difference in GCSE performance between 2011/12 and 2014/15 for schools who had been YST members continuously during that period was 7% better than those schools who had never been YST members and in 2014/15 secondary schools who had been YST Members performed better at GCSEs than the national average.

For those schools reading this who are currently not members of Youth Sport Trust, I would like to personally extend an invitation to join us and our network of like minded schools. This will ensure that you are able to help us influence change within school sport, as well as give you access to innovative programmes and developmental support from our team of experts through both our national webinars, and communication channels such as INSPIRE.

As we rapidly approach the end of another academic year, we would like to extend our thanks to all those primary, secondary and special schools that have shared our mission around the power of PE, school sport and physical activity. Together, we have continued to improve the outcomes for all young people and we are determined to continue that track record as we begin our preparations for 2016/17.

Thanks to the fantastic response from schools during the 2015/16 academic year, we are delighted to confirm that there will be a new and improved membership offer for next year, something which we at the Youth Sport Trust are very excited about. We have received a lot of invaluable feedback over the last year on how best to help our members and we very much hope that this year’s offer reflects your crucial importance to us.

We hope that all of our member schools will continue their membership with us and ensure priority access to exciting programmes and opportunities for your schools for 2016/17 – please complete the National Programme Sign Up survey for your school to be involved! It’s also possible to upgrade your membership to access more support and extended benefits and as a special thank you, we will be giving away a free Youth Sport Direct kit bag (worth up to £100) to all schools that choose to upgrade their membership before Friday 10 June.

Our Level 2 members will receive full access to our renowned resources, as well as our comprehensive OFSTED-aligned self-review tool – the Youth Sport Trust Quality Mark – which highlights good practice and areas for further development, and signposts you to further advice and support. As a Level 2 member, you will also be eligible to attend our cutting edge National CPD seminar ‘The Power of an Active School’, in addition to accessing all of our exclusive offers and discounts, as well as our national communications and updates.

Level 3 members will be invited to attend our flagship event, the Youth Sport Trust Conference, which will take place on Wednesday 1 March 2017 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, as well as our Awards Dinner which will be held the previous evening. Your membership will also include exclusive access to the new Youth Sport Award (YSA), the only UK award scheme designed to recognise young people’s learning, progress and achievement in and through sport, as well as consultancy visits from our experienced team of specialists.

We have received lots of fantastic feedback from our member schools this year, highlighting many of the benefits discussed here, and I would urge you to join us for 2016/17 and ensure that you’re not missing out on the same fantastic opportunities. We are here to help you become a leading school in your area - tackling leadership, achievement and wellbeing.
