It is truly inspiring to see the amount of time, effort and passion that has been shown by each of them in leading and encouraging girls to take part in school sport. Through Girls Active, girls are empowered to make their own choices about how to be active and encourage others to do the same, and these awards show the huge impact the scheme can have for both schools and the girls themselves.

Whether it’s having a wiggle to my favourite tune or splashing about in the sea, I believe to be engaged with my body through movement and activity is one of my most cherished aspects of my life.
Funded by Sport England, in partnership with Women in Sport, Girls Active has worked with a growing number of schools each year to help teachers and teenage girls understand what motivates them to take part in PE and sport; developing an action plan based on their feedback on how it should be delivered. Some of the girls then return back to their school and use peer-to-peer marketing to engage more girls in activity.
This year the Girls Active Awards scheme launched to celebrate the work schools are doing to develop positive attitudes towards PE and sport and the achievements of girls, with regards their own level of physical activity but also that of their peers.
