John Hume

John is responsible for the leadership of the Trust which is managing a growing investment of £93m to address health inequalities. He has led the development of place-based funding models with a critical emphasis on addressing the wider social determinants of health, in particular through increased local collective control. This has involved the development of Local Conversations, an eight-year long programme which ensures that local people are in control of the design, development and delivery of neighbourhood initiatives to create fairer places to grow, live work and age.

John previously worked in community settings in learning disability/mental health services where he ran a community resources centre. He was the Deputy Head of Programmes for Big Lottery Fund's £500m health programme, ran his own business for several years, headed up V's £100m corporate match fund programmes and led operations planning at both Big and the Healthcare Commission.
