Hannah is best known as 'Hurricane Hannah' for her exploits in para athletics. In the 2013 New Year's Honours, Hannah was awarded a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her achievements.
Away from the track, Hannah has been an ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust since 2011. She started working with the charity after competing in the School Games National Finals, a multi-sport event delivered by YST, thanks to funding through National Lottery funding via Sport England. Hannah also holds a degree in media and journalism from Coventry University, and upon completing an Aspire TV presenting course, was offered a six-programme presenting slot with BBC Countryfile. She has also appeared on numerous tv programmes including Mastermind, the Crystal Maze and the Stand up to cancer Great British Bake Off.
As someone who didn’t really do PE at school because of the lack of funding, I want to do everything I can to make sure no other young person goes without. We should be way past that stage now but unfortunately some still sit on the side lines. It is vital to improve PE in a way which ensures no young person misses out on a good quality and inclusive Physical Education. School sport and PE have never been more important than now.
What’s Hannah working on?
Hannah supports the YST to campaign for every child to enjoy the life changing benefits that come from play and sport. She supported the charity to achieve confirmation of the 2020/21 Primary PE and Sport Premium on behalf of schools alongside other organisations and sports stars which is vital for ensuring all children can access a good quality Physical Education.
Hannah also helps the charity to raise awareness of its annual National School Sport Week.
