Schools on the move for ESSD

This week celebrates European Week of Sport which aims to promote active, healthier lifestyles to millions of people in Europe and beyond.

One of the week’s key activities includes European School Sports Day (ESSD) which takes place on 24 September 2021 and is a pan European event that focuses on getting schools on the move and encourages every child to #BeActive. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the theme for this year’s ESSD is 'From school space to MOVEment space', encouraging participants to #BeActive for 120 minutes throughout the day.

As one of the founding partners of ESSD, YST International encourages schools to take part in the event which is officially a recognised associated event of National School Sport Week

Grateful thanks to FESI – the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry – for supporting ESSD for a second year and donating sports items collected from their members.

"We all know that active kids perform better in their classrooms, communities and future careers, yet today’s generation is the least active in history. Less than 30% of children receive 60 minutes of daily physical activity recommended by WHO. In Europe, one in five children is overweight or obese", commented Jérôme Pero, FESI Secretary General. "By supporting the ESSD initiative, we hope to help more children to be active."
