Cluster WorkingYST Cluster Working
A cluster is a group of schools working together, using YST schools membership to enhance and extend their PE, school sport and physical activity provision for young people. A cluster of schools may work in partnership locally, often building on a previous School Sport Network or nationally, such as Multi Academy Trusts.
- Organisations working together to support PESSPA locally, e.g. School Sport Partnerships
- Multi Academy Trusts
- Teaching School Alliances
- Local school partnerships e.g. Secondary school with primary feeder schools
- Local authorities (where they still exist).
Youth Sport Trust schools membership often with additional strategic support from the YST may drive the cluster working or the membership and additional support may form part of a wider cluster offer coordinated locally by a cluster coordinator.
Our relationship with each cluster is bespoke to the individual needs of the cluster. For example, cluster working may include:
|Cluster example 1:||Cluster example 2:|
|YST membership for each school in the cluster||YST membership for each school in the cluster|
|2 full days of CPD||10 full days of strategic support from local YST Development Manager|
|1 full day of CPD for all NQT's in the cluster|
|Monitoring and evaluating package to capture impact of cluster working|
In addition networking opportunities for cluster co-ordinators are held twice a year. Coordinated by the Youth Sport Trust these provide an opportunity for clusters to share good practice, hear political and policy updates from senior colleagues at the Youth Sport Trust and contribute to effective cluster working.
Cluster working is a partnership between the Youth Sport Trust and the cluster of schools. No two cluster relationships are the same. Each package of support is negotiated with the cluster and determined by the individual needs of the schools creating a truly bespoke and flexible package of support.
