Recruit into Coaching

About this programme:

CoachingRecruit into Coaching is part of the wider PE and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) coaching strand. The aim of the programme is to recruit and deploy 10,000 new volunteer coaches by 2011. 5,680 of the coaches will be delivered through the network of Sports Colleges/School Sport Partnerships (school setting) and 4,320 through the network of County Sport Partnerships (community setting). Recruit into Coaching focuses on the 70 most deprived areas of England as identified through the highest ranked local authorities. It is flexible in terms of the sports it includes as it's based very much on local need.

Target audience:

Issues that this programme tackles:

In return they will then assist in delivering additional sporting activities for local young people. In schools the support package includes: access to bursary funding for trainees, coach manager support, access to a free booklet (an introduction to coaching young people) as well as opportunities to shadow existing local level 2 school sport coaches.

How is this programme accessed?

In 70 deprived areas of England through Sports Colleges / School Sport Partnerships and County Sport Partnerships.

Recruit into Coaching and School Sport Coaching Portal

Please note that from 1 September the coaching portal will no longer be in operation. Instead, all resources for School Sport Coaching and Recruit into Coaching will now be in the School Sport Xchange area on the YST website. This will make resources more readily available and enable us to provide you with more up to date material.

In this area, you will be able to access resources to help with the employment and deployment of coaches, including case studies, DVD’s, newsletters and coaching manual documents. Guidance on each stage of the PRIDD model will also be available.

Please use the following link to access the coaching section of the School Sport Xchange.

Please note that you will no longer have the facility to log coach details/hours, however if you wish to continue to manage your coaches through an online system,  the software we were using to record hours is still available through your County Sports Partnership. Please contact them or CoachWeb (www.coachweb.co.uk) about using the system.

As you are aware, all coaching hours will be continue to be recorded through the YST Programme Application Windows.
