“Zoneparc provides an exhilarating, uplifting and structured playtime experience for the children. We have really seen the behaviour improve – how did we ever manage without it?” Lunchtime Supervisor
“As the children have been involved in every step of the Zoneparc process – the children feel that they have ownership of the playground, and they have enjoyed seeing the structure it has given to their games,” Headteacher
Through monitoring and evaluation of the Zoneparc programme - carried out in partnership with the Institute of Youth Sport, schools and School Sport Partnerships - we know the project makes a difference to children and young people, and assists in changing the culture of primary school playgrounds.
We know the scheme has made a difference in the following areas:
- Increase in physical activity levels.
- Increase in the imagination of designing playground games.
- Skill level increasing for all pupils.
- Dramatic shift in the equality of access to space.
- Decrease in the number of bullying and fighting incidents.
- The zones create a sanctuary area for pupils.
- Injuries are significantly lower.
- Curricular use of line markings.
- Integration of 'Zoneparc players' into areas of citizenship.
- Prompt start to afternoon lessons.
- More motivated lunchtime supervisors.
- The playground caters for non-competitive children as well.
- Big change in the playground culture.
- More choice and wider variety of things to do and activities on offer.
