Our work

Our work in Northern Ireland

Leadership and Volunteering Camp 2009 The Youth Sport Trust runs a number of programmes in Northern Ireland including Sky Sports Living for Sport, Sainsbury’s TOP Activity and International Inspiration. We work strategically with partner agencies to deliver these programmes. Our Young Ambassador programme will soon be rolled out in Northern Ireland and will create a 2012 legacy for Northern Ireland through young people.

We continue to work closely with key education agencies to support the recent development of Specialist Schools in Northern Ireland and to provide support to the Specialist Sport Schools and those with sport as their second specialist subject.

The development of young people as leaders and volunteers is a key element of our work in Northern Ireland. This includes TOP Link, Sky Sport Living for Sport and Northern Ireland Leadership and Volunteering Camp in conjunction with the University of Ulster, linking with and supporting Northern Ireland Strategies.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

We offer a range of CPD opportunities in Northern Ireland for both the PE Practitioner and the community and voluntary sectors. They are designed to support the raising of the quality of teaching, learning and delivery of physical activity opportunities. This results in the delivery of broad, balanced and inclusive PE, physical activity, play and sport and develops a healthy lifestyle through lifelong involvement.

Courses offered range from Early Years focus including Start to Play, Primary age including TOP Activity training and secondary age including TOP Link and Sky Sports Living for Sport.
