Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Christmas 2009On behalf of everyone at the Youth Sport Trust, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Thank you for your efforts in 2009. We re-open on 4 January and look forward to continuing our work with you in 2010.

Here are some of our highlights from this year:

January: The third National Talent Orientation Camp inspires over of 100 of Britain’s most talented youngsters.

February: This year’s Sports Colleges Conference, ‘Leading the Change’  was the biggest and best yet

March: The Youth Sport Trust and Sainsbury’s hold a ceremony to recognise the innovative ways School Sport Partnerships and Local Authorities have delivered Sainsbury’s TOP Activity

April: Around 300 young sports leaders and volunteers from across the UK attend the 2009 Step into Sport Camp to develop their skills as positive role models

May: 60 young leaders aged between 16 and 18 years old attend our first Leadership and Volunteering Camp in Northern Ireland.

June: Five of Great Britain’s most successful athletes named as School Sport Ambassadors to help inspire more children to take part in Sport

July: In its second year, Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week celebrate PE and school sport across the country

August: David Beckham adds his support to International Inspiration, London 2012’s international legacy programme for children and young people which we are the delivery agency for.

September: We launch our Young Ambassador Britain Campaign to show how much of a difference Young Ambassadors are making.

October: We announce our new team of ChangingLIVES athlete mentors

November: Former Wimbledon men’s singles champion Pat Cash led a Sky Sports Living for Sport tennis masterclass.

December: Michael McGrath, the only disabled person in the world to reach both the North and the South Pole speaks at our Special Schools PE and Sport Conference
