Tips of the week
In the run up to Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, the Youth Sport Trust talks to some of sport’s biggest stars to get their tips and advice. This week we speak to Paralympic gold medallist and Youth Sport Trust board member Marc Woods.
YST: What advice would you give to a young person thinking about trying a new sport?
MW: Try as many new sports as you can and you are sure to find something you will like. I enjoy trying new sports and learning new skills. I am not always good at them but I love giving it a go!
YST: What encouragement would you give to a young person who is starting to train more seriously in a chosen sport?
MW: Listen to your teachers and coaches. If you want to be as good as you can be at a sport then you will sometimes need to be told when you can do things better.
YST: How would you encourage someone who isn't sporty to take part in Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week?
MW: Don’t worry about just having a go. You might choose to do something that supports other e.g. teaching some young children or perhaps you might form a cheerleading team.
YST: What will your Sports Pledge be for Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week?
MW: I am going to try and get my dog to run twice as far round the park with me each day!
Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week takes place from 29 June to 3 July 2009.
