Lloyds TSB National School Sport WeekLloyds TSB National School Sport Week is just around the corner, and with more than ten thousand schools signed up, there is a huge amount happening next week.

The Youth Sport Trust and Lloyds TSB are using this special event to celebrate all that has been achieved in PE and school sport. Our five School Sport Ambassadors – Denise Lewis, Gail Emms, Jason Gardener, Joe Glanfield and Sascha Kindred – will be visiting schools and encouraging young people to get involved. We’ll be keeping you informed of the major developments each day, so be sure to have a look. Here are a few highlights of the week:

On Monday Jason Gardener will be at Leytonstone Community Sports Ground in London where there’ll be a multi sport ‘Our Games’ event with 500 pupils. Every pupil has a ‘my Olympic dream, my London 2012’ card in which they’ve written down an achievable dream for the year.

On Tuesday Gail Emms is off to Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. 55,000 pupils from three School Sport Partnerships are attempting the world’s biggest skipping event. Sascha Kindred will be at Alderman Smith Sports College in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

On Wednesday Denise Lewis is visiting Herne Bay High School and Sports College in Canterbury, Kent. 300 pupils will be participating in inter-school competitions such as handball, tug-of-war, ultimate frisbee and volleyball.

On Thursday Joe Glanfield will be at St. Monica’s primary School in Cardiff which will be holding an Olympic Sports Day at Cardiff University Sports complex. On Friday Jo will be off to Hamble Community Sports College in Southampton. They’re hosting an event with 300 pupils from 70 schools.
