Teacher of the Year nominations

Tuesday, 22 July 2008

Barking AbbeyIs your PE teacher a pillar of positivity helping pupils overcome issues of confidence and low self esteem? Perhaps your sports teacher is a shining star leading individuals towards a life-changing path?

Nominations for the prestigious ITV Teacher of the Year awards, to be presented during the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards shown on ITV, are now being taken and the Youth Sport Trust wants to encourage anyone considering nominating a member of their PE teaching staff to apply.

We know just how powerful a medium sport is and just how wide reaching its impact can be, but we also know just how much more successful it can be when harnessed by an exceptional member of staff.  Now is your chance to tell the nation about an influential PE teacher at your school who is showing a unique and inspirational approach to their work in order to have a positive impact on the learning and development of young people.

Perhaps they have set up an out-of-school club targeted at pupils at risk of opting out of school life, initiated targeted programmes such as Sky Living For Sport, to support disaffected and disadvantaged pupils or maybe they are taking volunteering to new heights, working with pupils, including their Young Ambassadors or Gifted and Talented youngsters, to support sporting endeavours in the community. Whatever it is that they are doing, if you think it is worthy of recognition, follow the link below and get typing!

Click here for more information, and don’t forget to let lizzie.jones@youthsporttrust.org know if you have entered someone and how they get on along the nomination process.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
