Sascha Kindred, Paralympic swimmer and School Sport Ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust will be returning to the UK with an impressive medal haul from the IPC World Short Course Championship in Rio.
Sascha's total medal tally from Rio is an impressive three Golds, all in new World Record times plus a Silver from the 100m SB7 Breaststroke
Steve Grainger, Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust said:
“The Youth Sport Trust would like to congratulate Sascha on this terrific achievement. Sascha is a Youth Sport Trust School Sport Ambassador and visits schools across the country to motivate and inspire young people through sport. He is a real inspiration to the young people he meets and will continue to be a role model for them both in and out of the pool."
Speaking before he left Rio Sascha said: "I'm really pleased with how things have gone overall. The conditions were really tough with it being so warm which was a good experience, but I'll be glad to get back and start concentrating on the World Championships in Eindhoven next year."
In his role as a School Sport Ambassador, Sascha promotes the benefits of sport and a healthy lifestyle to young people, visiting schools and sporting events across the country to support our initiatives and help increase young people’s enjoyment of sport.
To celebrate the 1,000 day countdown to the Paralympic Games, the Youth Sport Trust is asking you to tell us what you’re doing to inspire your pupils using 2012.
Your school could win a visit from Sascha. Sascha will visit the winning school to see for himself the 2012 inspired activities that are taking place and participate in a Q&A with young people. He will also be on hand to share advice and tips on his Paralympic glory.
