Youth Sport Trust applauds winners

The annual School and Sport Partnerships’ Innovation and Recognition Awards took place last night at the School and Sport Partnerships’ Conference in Telford.
The awards identify innovation and recognise good practice that can be showcased and used to help shape delivery in priority areas across the country and support the delivery of the PE and Sport Strategy for Young People.
Olympic sailing silver medallist, Joe Glanfield and Paralympic rowing bronze medallist, Alastair McKean were on stage to present the honours.
This year the School and Sport Partnerships’ Innovation Awards 2008 consisted of three Innovation Awards, three Recognition Awards and an extra award to recognise one School Sport Partnership’s outstanding contribution to National School Sport Week. School Sport Partnerships were identified and nominated through their Youth Sport Trust Development Managers. The winners were as follows:
Innovation Awards
Creation of a new activity/approach to engaging the diverse needs of young people.
Winner: Sundorne SSP
Actively engaging with all young people to identify and deliver appealing activities and appropriate environments.
Winner: Rossington SSP
Use of technology to communicate with KS4 young people to increase participation.
Winner: Leytonstone SSP and Norlington Boys SSP
Recognition Awards
Using alternative activities to embrace new partners in the delivery of OSHL i.e. parents, community partners or providers.
Winner: Rawmarsh SSP
OAA as a support resource to assist with Key Stage 2 and 3 transition
Winner: Paignton SSP
Increasing participation in Key Stage 4 competition
Winner: Newsome High SSP

Norwich Union National School Sport Week Recognition Award
Winner: South West Lincolnshire SSP
