Tuesday, 29 September 2009
Youth Sport Trust School Sport Ambassador Sascha Kindred is today lending his support to the East Midland Inclusive Youth Games.
The East Midlands Inclusive Youth Games is a multi-sport regional finals day for young disabled athletes aged 11 to 19 from Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire.
The five sports they will be competing in are MLD Badminton, PAN disability sports hall athletics, PAN disability Kwik Cricket, PAN disability table tennis and PAN disability wheelchair basketball. All of the athletes have progressed as winners from a ‘county’ level event.
Sascha, a six times Paralympic gold medallist swimmer and current world record holder, will motivate the competitors by speaking at the opening ceremony and offering words of encouragement as he tours the various sports.
Sascha is one of five Youth Sport Trust School Sport Ambassadors. The others are Denise Lewis, Jason Gardener, Joe Glanfield and Gail Emms.
