As part of the International Inspiration programme the British Council in association with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, India, is organising a conference to raise the profile of Physical Education and School Sport.
The conference is part of a larger programme called “International Inspiration”, which aims to deliver on the promise made by the London 2012 Olympic bid team in Singapore to enrich the lives of young people of all abilities from the most disadvantaged communities in the world by playing and excelling in sport.
The conference will be supported by Sharon Kee and David Barnett from the Youth Sport Trust who have been working together with the British Council to develop and implement the Physical Education and school sport programme. There will also be contributions from educationalists from Delhi and Hyderabad focussing on the work in their schools using PE and School Sport to raise standards in all areas of school life as well as key Government officials and UNICEF.
This International Inspiration work has already started with a visit by the Principle and teachers from a UK school to Hyderabad as part of the ‘Dreams and Teams’ programme. Whilst in the region, the group will visit the school earmarked as their partner to develop plans for the project, and explore how sport can be used as the basis for achieving impact across their school and local community. They will also have the chance to see learning in a completely different environment.
