Harry Mills – honouring a special talent

Harry Mills died from Meningitis on Thursday 26th of April 2007 aged 11 years old.

Harry’s parents, Richard and Judi Mills, describe their son as “always having a beaming smile on his face and limitless enthusiasm for sport and life itself.”

The Mills family have been raising money for the Youth Sport Trust and Meningitis Research Foundation in memory of Harry and have set up a website for anyone who wishes to donate to the Harry Mills fund at http://www.harrymills.co.uk

Harry’s sportsmanship and ability earned him a place on the Gifted and Talented programme at John Hampden Grammar School.

Sport was Harry’s life and not only did he play for John Hampden School in both football and rugby, he represented Marlow RUFC, Holy Trinity Juniors Football Club, Marlow Park Cricket Club and Marlow Tennis Club.

Steve Grainger, Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust, said: “Harry was a promising young sportsman and enjoyed taking part in a range of sports, including football, rugby, cricket, tennis and athletics.

“We are honoured to have been chosen by his family to receive donations in Harry’s memory. The mission of the Youth Sport Trust is to support the education and development of young people through the power of sport and these very kind donations in Harry’s honour will help us continue our work.

“Our thoughts are with the Mills family and we are very grateful for their generous support.”

Donations made to the Youth Sport Trust will be used to support other Gifted and Talented young people in sport through the co-ordinated programme to help them to realise their full potential both in sport and education.
