The Key Stage 1 Participation Awards have been developed by the Youth Sport Trust in conjunction the British Heart Foundation and a selection of School Sport Partnerships.
The awards recognise the amount of physical activity undertaken by each pupil through a full week, both in and out of school and early years establishments. Stickers and certificates are presented for achievements over a six-week period.
A primary school from the Haydon Bridge Partnership, which took part in the pilot, described the resource as:
“An excellent tool in its own right and a potential vehicle not only to enhance levels of physical activity, but also to improve school / parent and school / club links, the quality of PE and break time activity, the identification of target pupils and targeting of parents / staff who require greater support.”
