As part of my role as National School Sport Champion, I will (and have been!) visiting Sports Colleges and schools in School Sport Partnerships across the country.
I have been really impressed by the work that teachers, coaches and others are doing in helping kids take part in more PE and School Sport. I know that the government has set the target of 75 percent of pupils taking part in High Quality PE and School Sport by 2006, and from what I have seen so far, the schools are doing a great job in helping kids do this.
Of course, though there is a lot of good work happening, there is still so much to be done. I am listening to the challenges and issues teachers are facing and hope I can raise awareness of these as part of my role.
