A joint project between Youth Sport Trust and British Council, Dreams + Teams provides a unique link between British school children and their counterparts around the world.
The programme develops mutual understanding between countries and develops leadership skills and cross-cultural awareness in 14-18 year olds through sport and international educational links. Issues the programme aims to explore are fair play, equity, cultural diversity, inclusion, religion, ethics and global communication.

Dreams + Teams has been in operation since 2001 and is in now active in 46 countries across four continents.
In September 2005 the first ever Dreams + Teams International Camp was organised by the Youth Sport Trust at Loughborough University. The aim was to help develop links between British and overseas schools, improve cross-cultural understanding and produce a vision for Dreams + Teams in the future.
The event was a huge success involving about 300 young leaders and 150 teachers from 28 countries. As one young leader from Singapore remarked when asked about Dreams + Teams, "we are building bridges, breaking barriers and blending cultures."
In addition to our work on Dreams + Teams, we embarked on a new partnership with the Council of Europe to deliver sports leadership to internally displaced young people from Azerbaijan and Georgia.
These multi-national camps aimed not only to help students return to their countries better equipped to make a wider contribution to grass roots sport, but also to tackle a whole range of other social issues. Teachers from the UK, together with a Youth Sport Trust trainer, spent a week in Azerbaijan delivering sports leadership training.
