Dance Conference 2009

DanceThe Youth Sport Trust's first ever Dance Conference, 'Inspiring Dance Practice' took place on Friday 10 July 2009 at Walsall Football Club.

The conference focued on the skills and techniques needed to motivate and inspire dance education. The event also showcased effective dance practice to support the five hour offer.

It was aimed at meeting the needs of specialist dance teachers and non-specialists alike at both secondary and primary level. Teachers of PE and Dance, SSCos, PDMs, PLTs, Local Authority PE and Dance Advisors and those with an interest in developing their own skills and the skills of young people found the event an invaluable learning opportunity.

The day will consisted of exciting performances by dance companies  and schools such as Youth Dance group ‘Free Fall’ and StopGAP Dance Company’s who performed their highly acclaimed new dance work, ‘Tracking’ which uses the 2012 cultural Olympiad as inspiration.

There was also a keynote addresses from Baroness Sue Campbell, Olympic medallist and BBC correspondent Stephen Parry and Birmingham Royal Ballet's former principle dancer and choreographer Lee Fisher, as well as active workshops, networking and an exhibition area showcasing the latest dance innovation.
