Torch magic continues
Steve Glover, a Partnership Development Manager from the Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership, has been one of the lucky people to carry the Olympic Torch during its national relay around the country.
Steve was nominated as a Lloyds TSB torchbearer for his dedication to school sport and the incredible work he has done to engage schools and young people in National School Sport Week. Before his leg of the relay Steve paraded with 100 Young Ambassadors who welcomed the torch to Stafford.
Steve said: "I am so focused on creating a real legacy for the Olympics and Paralympics this year. It has been such an honour to carry the torch and straight after my leg of the relay I visited Holden Lane Sports College in Stoke to give students a chance to see it too. It was so good to see the smiles on their faces."
Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell who is an ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust ran with the torch last month when it visited Wales while fellow gold medallist and ambassador Jason Gardener held the flame as it passed through his home city of Bath.
In July Baroness Sue Campbell, chair of the Youth Sport Trust, will take her place in the torch relay as she runs a leg of the torch relay when it visits Loughborough.
