Youth Sport Trust responds to public health consultations

The Youth Sport Trust has submitted its response to two Department of Health consultations on public health.

The consultations seek views on the Government's proposals, set out in the White Paper 'Healthy Lives, Healthy People', which including possible changes to the NHS and the way that public health services are delivered in the UK. In particular they focus on plans for the commissioning of services, and the introduction of a new 'outcomes framework' for public health.

The Youth Sport Trust has highlighted the role of high quality PE and physical activity in improving public health, and argue that physical activity among children and young people should be included as an indicator in the public health outcomes framework.

The Government is expected to publish further proposals later this year.
