Bikeability
Bikeability, funded by the Department of Transport (DfT), is designed to give youngsters the skills and confidence to ride, especially on roads. The programme also aims to sustain participation in cycling activity in England.
The programme is delivered through a range of partners, including School Games Organiser host schools, local authorities, freelance instructors, clubs and local cycling forums. The Youth Sport Trust is supporting schools to deliver the programme.
Currently funding from DfT will provide training for young people between Years 5-9 to attain Levels 2 and 3 Bikeability awards (Level 1 can be included if part of the same Level 2 course).

Training courses and opportunities for youngsters
We are offering free Bikeability Instructor and Assistant Instructor courses to schools.
To give young people the opportunity to gain accreditation and the chance to deliver Bikeability in primary or secondary schools, there are also opportunities to attend Instructor courses (18+) and Assistant Instructor courses for 16-19 year olds.
