Raise Your Game: raising achievement and attainment in curriculum subjects
The focus of Raise your Game is to identify the key
aspects of high quality physical education and sport that enable
young people to achieve - and for these effective strategies
to be applied to other curriculum subjects.
Summarised by four main themes Raise your Game provides
examples from schools and resources and ideas for adding value to
learning in other curriculum subjects by:
- using the motivational and relevant contexts of sport;
- using the positive personal values developed and demonstrated through sport;
- building on and benefiting from the generic skills developed in physical education and sport; and
- building on and applying successful pedagogical approaches used in physical education.
Extra-time (core subjects)
This online school-based resource introduces an effective framework for using PE and sport to enhance learning in other subjects. It includes successful examples and supporting resources.
Curriculum Coaches (developing leaders of learning)
This training resource supports sports leaders to transfer their skills to become effective academic peer coaches. Curriculum Coaches is a secondary focussed and offers subject specific support for literacy, mathematics and modern foreign languages.
Language of Sport 2 (supporting uptake (EBacc.)
The Language of Sport 2 publication showcases effective strategies, case studies and top tips from schools in using PE and sport to engage and motivate young people to achieve in languages.
